Michael Guerin steals our hearts yet again in episode 8 – “Missing My Baby“, Roswell, New Mexico, season 4.
Can we give ever give enough credit to Michael? I think not. Despite having seen his angst-ridden soulful longing for Alex time and again, he still manages to perfectly break our hearts with his uncontrollable love bursting forth every time. 💞
He is the spotlight of the episode for us, no doubt. Since Alex‘s disappearance from episode 2, season 4, we have been waiting painfully for Michael to find out. Trying to picture his heartbreak the moment he realizes.
And Vlamis could not have portrayed his heartbreaking shock any more perfectly, we can all agree!
Discovering, that he was kept in the dark by his loved ones, hurt him more badly. He is now filled with the guilt of not having listened to Alex calling out to him because he had got so involved in dealing with Bonnie and Clyde.
In his hurtful outburst upon Max and his friends, Michael shocks us beautifully by the consuming love he is ever filled with for Alex. We want to see that love for Alex again and again in his eyes. We can never have enough of that. 😭
From the moment he gets to know from Maria that Alex is missing, the expression on his face as the truth sinks in, when he gets angry that they had not given a thought that Alex would have reached out to him instead of Maria, and that he himself was not thinking of Alex every second, is intensely emotional. 😢

And the pain he feels knowing Alex has been missing, has needed him now more than anything, and that he has not been able to be there for him, it’s heartbreaking.
When he hits Max, the exhaustive rage he feels, he needs to direct that towards Max or be consumed by it. He just cannot seem to calm down, feeling the full weight of his painful emotions. Hurtfully guilty that he could have been looking for Alex all this time, if they had told him.

When Alex communicates with him though the song he wrote for them, Michael’s heart-swooning reaction is worth every moment of waiting we had endured (Michael and Alex you rock!).

Valmis nails the scene! He is so relived to know Alex is communicating with him. The moment is so much clarity of his affection for Alex that runs so achingly deep in him, than he would ever admit or show in gestures.
He does not even care for himself, as he rushes to jump into the pocket-dimension sinkhole to save Alex. All he knows at that moment, all he cares is that Alex is down there and he needs to reach out to him.
Max fiercely pulling him back from jumping in, was stunning as Michael finally breaks down in tears. The moment was the best of season 4 so far. The intensity of heartache that Michael shows in the single moment weighs more than any glimpses of his vulnerable side he has shown till now.
