Summary
This drama is centered on the angsty love between the big bad demon lord Dong Qingcang and the sweet little fairy Orchid (Xiao Lan Hua). Orchid accidently resurrects Dong Qingcang, the ruler of the Moon Tribe‘s primordial spirit, who had been imprisoned in Haotian Tower for 30,000 years. And in that process, sets a motion of cosmic events to unfold.
Moon Supreme
Dong Qingcang is an excellent character and Dylan Wang has done brilliant in this role. He portrays a fearsome and larger than life terrifying figure, with his furious displays of power strikes. The Supreme ruler of the Moon Tribe has a quiet intimidating strength and cold look that is chilling.
It’s a treat to watch him in this show! Every one of his scene stealing moves makes you hanker for more. And the slow reveals to the facets of his character will keep you hooked on him. Dong Qingcang is quite an awesome character as his hidden layers unfold, eventually.

His best scene was when he makes his first appearance in Shuiyuntian realm, after his long imprisonment.
The single scene spoke volumes about his power, which was just mentioned until then. And did perfect justice to his fearsome reputation. He makes a magnificent yet heart swooning appearance saving Orchid.
Flower Fairy Orchid
Orchid plays an innocent role which exudes her sweetness and naivety at times. Yet she has one-of-a-kind strength that goes unmatched to others in the show. She is exactly the refreshing arc that is needed in the show amongst the studious and evil characters and gory themes of war.
The actress portrays the role quite well bringing in a good mix of spontaneousness and the mysteriousness that surrounds her origin. It will be exciting to see her arc unfold.
New Take On The Oldest Love Tale
The center of the story- forbidden love between the Moon Supreme and Fairy Orchid is heartwarmingly sweet and intriguing. The classic Beauty And The Beast story is old as century yet still manages to capture us each time.
What makes it interesting here are the new twists and takes. The layers to both of their characters and the evolving arc of their love takes place in a flow, at its own pace. This adds to the delight of watching their hearts grow fond for each other, despite their mile differences. Their chemistry is awesome!
In a subtle way, Dong Qingcang cold exterior seems to melt as the series progresses, that keeps you guessing each time, as to what he feels in his heart towards Orchid and what his intentions are.
Exquisite visuals and compelling plotlines
Did I mention the show has excellent visuals? Worth mentioning again. One thing that catches you from the beginning before the plot, is the picturesque sights of the otherworld realms: Shuiyuntian (the immortal fairy realm), Cangyan Sea (the Moon Tribe), Haishi City.
You would not want to blink till the scene shifts. Excellent job done by the show’s team in the detailed graphics. Interesting plotlines and eye-catching magical wuxia fights is sure to take you by storm.
